Our best work arises from our three core values: quality, transparency, and accountability. Our team is committed to shipping quality work that we’re confident in, work that does exactly what it should and does so in the best possible manner. Accountability and transparency are built into our agile structure: we work every day to set expectations and transfer information internally and externally, from sharing monthly financial reports, to keeping all our calendars visible. When things change, we clearly communicate the situation and adapt, making it clear what we’re working on and what our goals are on an individual, team, and company level.

Remote control.

When hiring new employees, we prioritize raw talent over geographic location. We want the best of the best, no matter where they are. And that hiring philosophy has created a diverse, engaged network of Alley staff all over the country. We give our team members the space they need to work how they work best.

We have coaches, not managers. Our team members are self-supervising adults who get their work done when they say they will. That said, we do provide structured mentorship and guidance at all levels of the company, and we have a strong culture of learning and professional development.

Day in, day out.

We use Scrum to run our projects collaboratively with our clients. Our project management techniques are designed to reduce stress for clients and Alley staff alike. As a distributed company, we use tools like Slack, Zoom, Google Apps, and Jira, to effectively get our work done without all being in the same place. Building these tools directly into our culture improves everyone’s relationships. Our ultimate goal is to make our clients happy — and have some fun along the way.

We believe in speaking honestly at all times, both internally and externally, and subscribe to the concept of Radical Candor. This means that our team members feel safe and unafraid to speak their minds. We don’t shy away from sharing our thoughts—professionally of course. Our experience has shown us that keeping all cards face-up on the table is the most successful way to collaborate.
