Start Us Up Now: America’s New Business Plan is an initiative of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, a Kansas City-based philanthropy that works in the fields of education and entrepreneurship. Kauffman and Alley worked together to rapidly design and launch a site to disseminate the particulars of the policy plan, support a targeted communications campaign in several states, and garner support from organizations who can join the Start Us Up Now coalition through the site.
Late last year, Alley Interactive played a significant lead role in the development effort around the migration and re-launch of People.com. We’re excited to announce the launch of another project for this well-known media property. Last week, People’s flash briefing skill (voice application) for Amazon’s Alexa was released, coinciding with Amazon’s announcement of video capabilities within Alexa.
People’s flash briefing is one of the first set of partners to utilize video, providing an enhanced visual experience on the screens of Echo Show devices.
Flash briefings, along with other Alexa skills, are voice-first applications, now complimented with the ability to support video. The Echo Show, released on June 28th, enhances the Alexa experience with a touch screen. With the People flash briefing, users can listen and watch daily updates from PeopleNow host Jeremy Parsons.
The smooth creation and launch of this skill is made possible by our open-source VoiceWP plugin, which allows any WordPress site to create its own Alexa skills. If you’re interested in creating a custom Alexa skill for your site or brand, get in touch!
