Not Invented Here syndrome (NIH) is the guilty pleasure that tempts engineering teams into creating bespoke approaches to problems that have already been solved. Even having your eyes opened to the temptation doesn’t immunize you from it. So, how do you know whether a bespoke solution warrants the effort or if it’s just plain hubris?

Tomorrow, December 1st, Alley partner Brad Campeau-Laurion will explain the Apple News plugin Alley helped write for the New York Post at the December Big Media WordPress Meetup NYC. It will be held at the offices of the New York Post and you can sign up for it here.
On Wednesday, December 2nd, Alley will co-sponsor the Hacks & Hackers Philly meetup with WordPress.com VIP during the WordCamp USA Community Summit at the Tir na Nog bar in Philadelphia. Alley partners Brad Campeau-Laurion and Matt Boynes and principal software developer Tom Harrigan will be at the event, so be sure to swing by and say hello.
